Friends Unite to Help South Madison
Madison Public Library Friends Unite to Offer $25,000 Challenge Grant for South Madison
Now less than $200,000 in reach of achieving our campaign goal, in a monumental effort, friends groups across Madison have come together to offer a CHALLENGE GRANT to the entire Madison community to help raise significant funds for the South Madison Capital Campaign. Through the effort of all nine of the Madison Public Library Friends groups; Friends of Sequoya, Friends of South Madison, Madison Public Library Friends, Friends of the Alicia Ashman Branch Library, Hawthorne Friends, Pinney Friends, Monroe Street Library League, Meadowridge Friends, and Lakeview Friends, each group has contributed a meaningful sum toward this $25,000 challenge grant to raise awareness of the importance of achieving the $700,000 capital campaign goal for the new South Madison Branch Library. The Friends will match every $3.00 contributed to the South Madison Branch Capital Campaign during 2010 by $1.00 up to a maximum of $25,000. Raising $75,000 with this effort means that the South Madison Branch will receive an additional $25,000 for a total of $100,000. This is a significant opportunity for the South Madison Branch. Nadine Pfotenhauer, President of the Friends of Sequoya, and Janice Zmrazek, President of the Madison Public Library Friends agree that this united friends effort across Madison sends an important statement of support. “Good library services, regardless of the branch where they originate, benefit the entire community. A new library for the South Madison community will provide the south side of the city with the quality of services that we all want for our own neighborhoods and will enhance the ability of the library to meet the unique needs of that community. While public dollars will make up a substantial part of the funding for this new branch it is necessary to raise $700,000 from other sources. About $500,000 has been raised so far. We are personally appealing to you today to join all the Madison Friends groups to help the South Madison Branch Library reach its capital campaign goal.” Contributions to the campaign may be made as a one-time gift or through a pledge payable up to three years. Contributions may be made by check, Visa, MasterCard or debit card
**To the extent that we exceed the $700,000 capital campaign goal, monies raised will be used to establish the South Madison Branch Library Endowment Fund. This fund will ensure a perpetual stream of income to support programs and resources at the all-new South Madison Branch.
