Foundation Grant Supports All Staff Day 2017

All Staff Day took place Thursday, September 14, at Central Library. The event, made possible in part by a grant from the Madison Public Library Foundation, is an annual tradition allowing Madison public library staff to come together to share ideas and practices, celebrate successes and learn from one another.

This year’s keynote speaker, UW-Health’s Dr. Jasmine Zapata, gave a presentation on trauma-informed care in a public setting. The talk was aimed to help staff learn how adverse childhood experiences can affect those around them, from coworkers to patrons.

All Madison Public Library locations were closed for the day to allow as many employees as possible to attend.

All Staff Day is a time for the library to formally recognize the hard work of its staff, and for staff members to ensure that their work supports the library's mission and vision. Library leaders said they hope staff members come away from the event feeling energized, appreciated and excited to continue making Madison Public Library the best it can be.
