Donate now via the City of Madison's secure server (credit card or ETF). Our goal is to make your on-line giving experience user friendly. You are now able to specify your contribution to the various Madison Public Library Foundation projects. Opportunities for contributing include: Annual Fund: Each year the Madison Public Library Foundation grants monies to enhance Library resources and programs. These gifts fuel our programs and offerings such as expanded collections, youth programs, electronic resources and more. Capital Campaigns: The Madison Public Library system strives to meet the challenges of continual improvement through the generosity of our donors. As we set new goals, you have the opportunity to dramatically affect the quality of life in your city, your neighborhood, and in your neighborhood library. Special Events: The Madison Public Library Foundation presents an annual event each Fall to highlight innovative talent in our community with proceeds benefiting Madison Public Library programs. Endowments: Some gifts have the power to ensure the well being of the Library for generations to come. The Madison Public Library Foundation endowments are designed to sustain our institution as our city grows. Consider contributing to an existing fund, or ask us about establishing one of your own. Every gift makes a difference. Thank you for your on-going support of the Madison Public Library Foundation.

Planned Giving
How do you want to leave your legacy? Support the Madison Public Library with a planned gift. “It was easy to name MPL Foundation a beneficiary of my IRA account. My future gift will be for endowment, so that its annual earnings help the library every year for a very long time. That's the kind of legacy I want to leave” - Nancy McGill, Member of the Silas Pinney Society What are Planned Gifts? Planned gifts come in many shapes and sizes, and are often the best way for someone who loves the library to make a significant contribution. Some planned gifts are quite simple, like leaving estate proceeds in a will, or even making a stock gift during your lifetime. Other gifts take a bit more planning and expertise, like a charitable gift annuity or a gift of life insurance. The Foundation staff is here to help, and while we cannot provide tax or legal advice, we can work with you, your family, and your professional advisors to carry out your vision. How do they help? Planned gifts… - Enhance educational programs - Build collections - Support staff - Improve facilities - Invest in the endowment to insure the future livelihood of our libraries. The Silas Pinney Society, Dedicated to Planned Giving The Silas Pinney Society is a group that recognizes and honors those who have chosen to make planned gifts to the Madison Public Library Foundation. Mayor Silas Pinney was credited with the founding of Madison’s first free library in 1875, which was originally housed in City Hall. It’s easy to become a member – make a legacy gift that makes a long-term difference in Madison’s Public Libraries. Let us know of your intention to make a planned gift and become a member of the Silas Pinney Society. Call Jenni at our office: 608.266.6318 or email her: jcollins@mplfoundation.org

Book Club Corner
Welcome to Book Club Corner, a cozy nook of the foundation’s website for book clubbers and book lovers alike. Here you’ll find information on the library’s book club kits and reviews of book club favorites. Don’t forget to enter your book club in our quarterly drawing. You could win a Barrique’s gift card! Subscribe to our "Book Club Corner" eNews updates Stay informed about author related events, library resources for your book club, and ways that your group can support Madison Public Library. Be sure to check the "Book Club Corner" box after you enter your email. Sign up today! What’s your next read? Try a Book Club Kit! Madison Public Library makes choosing your book club’s next book easy by collecting donated and withdrawn copies of discussible books and packaging them in a canvas bag with discussion questions and information about the author. Head over to the library’s website for more information on the over 190 kits (and counting!). Sign up to be notified when new kits are added. Help build more kits! Donate used copies of books your group has read at any Madison Public Library location. Be sure to mention that they are for the Book Discussion Kits. Meet the Books 'n' Banter
Books ‘n’ Banter began in 1995 on Madison’s east side, after breaking away from a book club that became too large. The smaller book club happily chatted about books without a group name until they registered for the Madison Public Library’s first Book Club Café in 1997. After batting around names, the alliteration of Books ‘n’ Banter stuck. The members, who each choose a month to select a book and host, live on the north and east side of Madison. What book are you currently reading? The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba What author would you like to have as a book club guest? How do we choose just one?! Julia Alvarez, Harper Lee, Margaret Mitchell, Jane Austen… If you could host book club anywhere, where would it be? Cape Town in January or Paris in spring If you could invite any person to join your book club, who would it be? Emily Auerbach, Eleanor Roosevelt, Warren Buffet, Katie Couric or Meredith Vieira Enter your Book Club! If you’d like to be entered in the drawing for next quarter’s newsletter, email newsletter@mplfoundation.org with a photo and brief description of your bookclub along with your answers to the questions above.
