What’s your next read? Try a Book Club Kit!

Madison Public Library makes choosing your book club’s next book easy by collecting donated and withdrawn copies of discussible books and packaging them in a canvas bag with discussion questions and information about the author.

Head over to the library’s website for more information on the over 190 kits (and counting!).

Sign up to be notified when new kits are added.

Help build more kits!

Donate used copies of books your group has read at any Madison Public Library location. Be sure to mention that they are for the Book Discussion Kits.

Meet the Books 'n' Banter

undefined

Books ‘n’ Banter began in 1995 on Madison’s east side, after breaking away from a book club that became too large. The smaller book club happily chatted about books without a group name until they registered for the Madison Public Library’s first Book Club Café in 1997.

After batting around names, the alliteration of Books ‘n’ Banter stuck. The members, who each choose a month to select a book and host, live on the north and east side of Madison.

What book are you currently reading? The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba

What author would you like to have as a book club guest? How do we choose just one?! Julia Alvarez, Harper Lee, Margaret Mitchell, Jane Austen…

If you could host book club anywhere, where would it be? Cape Town in January or Paris in spring

If you could invite any person to join your book club, who would it be? Emily Auerbach, Eleanor Roosevelt, Warren Buffet, Katie Couric or Meredith Vieira
