Celebration Continues for Sequoya Branch Library

The community grand opening celebration of the all-new Sequoya Branch Library was held on December 8, 2008 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, Library Board and Library Foundation Board President Tripp Widder, shared their remarks and thanked the capital campaign committee for a job well done. Engberg Anderson Design Partnership Architect Joe Huberty offered tours to first time visitors to the new branch. Refreshments were provided courtesy of Whole Foods Market. Attendees enjoyed a musical performance by the Westmorland Walking Band.

The celebration continued the evening of February 22 as we celebrated the completion of the capital campaign with donors who had made significant contributions to this effort, members of the Sequoya Branch Capital Campaign Committee, Madison Public Library Foundation and Madison Public Library Board of Directors.

The capital campaign raised well over $1M to provide furniture, fixture and equipment for the Sequoya Branch. The celebration included a program of speeches thanking the campaign committee, staff and the many donors who have contributed to the success of the campaign.

Collectively, over 900 donors including individuals, businesses and foundations have contributed to this project. We are grateful for overwhelming community support for this building project and with the development of a Sequoya Branch Endowment Fund (see the President’s Message on page 2), We are looking forward to years of successful programming, wonderful collections and continued success.
