Foundation Announces $10,000 Matching Gift for New Pinney Library
Jill Ball, a Madison east sider and longtime library supporter, has challenged Madison Public Library Foundation donors to stand behind the new Pinney Library project on Giving Tuesday by committing to a matching gift of up to $10,000.
Beginning on Giving Tuesday (November 28) and running through December 3, every Pinney donation will be doubled, up to $10,000 maximum.
Ball is an avid library visitor, and Pinney is her home branch. She said she uses the library most often to access databases and check out audiobooks on OverDrive. A first-time grandmother, Ball is excited for frequent visits to the children’s section with her grandchildren in the coming years. She recently shared why supporting a new library for Madison’s east side is so important to her.
"I'm thrilled to be able to play a role in bringing a new, larger Pinney Library to the east side," she said. "I encourage anyone who loves libraries and believes in free access to collections, services and programs for everyone in our community to make a donation in support of this project."
Once completed, Pinney Library will become a new and improved home for Madison’s east side community, providing a safe place for all to read, learn and connect. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2018, and the new library is expected to open in 2019. Read more about the plans for the new Pinney Library here.
Those interested in supporting the new library can attend the foundation's Giving Tuesday event at the Harmony Bar & Grill on November 28 or give online November 28–December 3 for their contribution to count toward the match.
