Hawthorne Library used part of its endowment funds in 2018 to purchase an AccuCut machine, along with various die cuts. Having this technology allows the library to easily create literacy materials and extension activities for storytimes, art workshops, book displays and outreach visits, said Youth Services Librarian Tracy Moore.

“We can efficiently and creatively make these materials whenever we need to,” she said. “Plus, library staff, volunteers and teen interns are all able to use the machine, and be a part of supporting library projects and activities.”

The machine has already been used to make cutouts for a Wil-Mar Center Story & Art program, Read & Make: Kindness All Around activity, name tags for Preschool Storytime & Storytime for the Very Young, cutouts for a special Music Together “chickens” storytime, and tags & hearts for a Valentine-making activity.

Madison Public Library Foundation thanks all who made a gift to the Hawthorne endowment fund in 2018.
