About the Festival
Since 2002, the Wisconsin Book Festival has brought thousands of local and nationally acclaimed authors to downtown Madison to encourage reading, discussion and the exchange of ideas. This year-round celebration of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and more attracts more than 15,000 people each year.
The 2018 fall festival weekend, which includes more than 60 author events, will be Thursday, October 11–Sunday, October 14.
Madison Public Library, in partnership with Madison Public Library Foundation, took over the festival in 2013, expanding it from a single
fall weekend to a year-round series of more than 100 events. Events are designed to reach every age group. They're held at Central Library, on the UW–Madison campus, at downtown bookstores and other Madison Public Library locations.
What makes the festival such a successful Madison tradition is that all events are FREE and open to the public! To make this possible, the foundation raises nearly half of the festival’s annual budget of $250,000 through private donations.
Consider joining the community of readers, book lovers and enthusiastic supporters who help keep the Wisconsin Book Festival a vital part of Madison by making a donation today.
