Madison Public Library Foundation has several endowment funds that support library facilities, collections, and programming into the future. In 2024, endowment funds supported projects at neighborhood library branches, contributing to library improvements such as meeting room upgrades, programming support, and new toys for Children’s Areas.

The Meadowridge Library Endowment Fund. The library spent more than $3,800 to support staff programming, plus food and book giveaways for a resource fair and the library’s 50th anniversary celebration. Funds also secured new toys and carpets to freshen up the Children’s Area, replaced a broken laminator, and provided new art materials.

The Monroe Street Endowment Library Fund. Over $1,000 helped establish Monroe Street’s very own seed library, including seeds and other supplies. The library was also able to install a new monitor on the wall to display upcoming events and to fund Saturday Art programs.

The Pinney Library Endowment Fund. The library spent around $2,500 to have the windows cleaned regularly. While not the most flashy use of funds, in a space with so much natural light, clean windows make a big difference in library visitors’ experiences.

The Sequoya Library Endowment Fund. Over $15,000 supported a wide range of programming, including the Wisconsin Metalsmiths’ workshop where attendees made metal bookmarks, Chinese Storytime for younger visitors, and Tai Chi for Fall Prevention for older adults. Other improvements included facility and audiovisual upgrades to improve meeting capabilities and visitor experiences.
