Madison Public Library Foundation regularly hosts interns to support our staff. Interns work in our office and at foundation events. As a nonprofit organization, we believe that internships are vital to both student and professional success. Internships provide students with hands-on experience and industry connections, bring new ideas to the table, and allow us to do more in the areas of events planning, marketing and PR, and development.
This year, we have three interns — a Development Intern, Events Intern, and Communications Intern — who work around 12 to 15 hours a week throughout the summer and school year. Today, we introduce you to our Development Intern, Ananya Prabhakar!
Ananya is from Delhi, India. She is a rising junior at UW–Madison double-majoring in economics, and consumer behavior and marketplace studies.
As Development Intern, Ananya plays an important role in supporting grant writing and donor relations processes. She conducts donor research and assists with database management. Not only is she assisting with day-to-day operations, she is also learning about donor management, grant writing, and prospect research that will help her in her future endeavors.
After she graduates, Ananya wants to explore opportunities surrounding data analytics, market dynamics, and research. She is passionate about conducting research and analyzing market trends. She plans to work as a market analyst.
Some fun facts about Ananya: Outside of class, she loves baking and cycling to Picnic Point. She has a pet dog named Jovi who is turning 14 next month, and she recently read When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. She also spent a significant amount of her time during the COVID-19 pandemic learning Mandarin and Japanese.
We’re so grateful for Ananya and the time she spends working for the betterment of our libraries! Watch for stories about Communications Intern Ray Kirsch and Events Intern Nathan Baker in the coming months.
