Madison Public Library Foundation Executive Director Jenni Jeffress presented Juli Jasicki, a Page at Madison Public Library’s Central Library, with the 2019 Elizabeth Moon Proctor Scholarship at the library’s Staff Day in September.
Jasicki graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Library Science. She then served in AmeriCorps for a year in a literacy-based program.
Jasicki said she decided to pursue a career in librarianship because of her passion for literacy, youth development and lifelong learning. She attends UW-Madison’s iSchool and is graduating with her master’s in Library and Information Studies in May.
Established in memory of Elizabeth “Betsy” Moon Proctor, the scholarship fund encourages and assists Madison Public Library employees who are planning careers in library and information studies. Moon Proctor enriched and enlivened Madison Public Library from 1967 until her retirement in 1996. Her dedication to public library service and dedication to helping minority and institutionalized populations inspired many to pursue library careers.
