Madison Public Library Foundation recently granted $5,000 to Madison’s Progress Center for Black Women so it could build a special collection of inspiring and focused books and other materials for Black women in business. The Progress Center is located just across Capitol Square from Central Library.

Pictured above are Business Resources Librarian Martin Alvarado (left) and Nonfiction Librarian Kathy Kube, who collaborated with Progress Center for Black Women staff to curate a list of items for the center’s entrepreneurs. The library was able to provide a 40 percent discount from its vendor to obtain the materials. The mini collection — which centers Black authors and includes 250+ titles in the areas of business, career, and wellness — was picked up in mid-February and rolled in carts across Capitol Square to its new home. It’s exciting to see the books go on display in their new building soon!
