Are you participating in a book club that meets virtually or outdoors, and in need of free materials? Book club kits are now available for curbside pickup at Central Library! Each kit features multiple copies of a particular title, plus suggested discussion questions.

Kylee Stoor, a Collection Management Team and Public Services librarian, said patrons have been excited to have access to the kits. Here are some of their comments she received via email recently:

“The book club kits are a great way to jump the line for hot new books with tons of holds!  Our group has been able to get copies of popular and relevant titles soon after publication (plus choosing them and picking them up is super convenient!).”

“Our book club has a goal of not spending too much money on books, and the best way to do that is to get our books from the library.  The book club kits are a great way to guarantee we can all get the same book at the same time!”

“The prepared questions that come with each kit are helpful in case our discussion ever gets off-track or we aren’t sure how to start talking about the book.”

To check out a kit, please call the library’s reference line at 608.315.5151 or visit the library’s book club kits page to find out what titles are available. Library staff can then place a hold for you. Requests may take up to five days from the time they are made to when the kit is available for pickup. Be sure to provide your email address and phone number in case there is a problem or delay with your request. The kits can be returned curbside at Central.

A portion of the kits were made possible through gifts to Madison Public Library Foundation’s Judy P. Olson Book Club Kit Fund, and those featuring local authors were funded with annual fund gifts to the foundation. Visit our Donate page to support these two funds.
